Who am I?

December 23rd 2007 13:09
Who am I?

People struggle with what to call themselves as it defines who they are, and what people think they are. Many would like to go by their job title, such as Doctor, Lawyer, or some other important title. Others would like to go by their political affiliations, such as Republican, or Democrat, Liberal, or Conservative. But who are we?

Job titles, or political affiliations does not make us who we are, it goes deeper than that. what makes who we are is what we believe, and not just believe, but practice in our lives. I have been told a believer is a doer.

I ask myself that question from time to time who am I, and what do I want to be? I believe it is not in the good times when everything is going your way, you will find out who you are.

But it is in the time you struggle the most, when every thing goes wrong. When it seems everyone is against you, and in the face of adversity your true self will show through, then you will know who you are, and what you are.

If you don't like who you are, you can always work to change it. That's something God has given us an opportunity to do. When can always work to improve ourselves, and should, we need to be the best we can be, not just for ourselves, but for everyone else around us.

Who am I, I am just one imperfect human being trying to do the best I can in this life. While hoping that I am not making it harder on someone else trying to do the best they can also.

Very nicely said, Lester!! It's easy to "be good" when everything is going fine. But like the saying goes, "Adversity doesn't make charater, it reveals it." It's also true that bad times are the test of faith. I hope to get a "C"!

Hey S.L.
I think you will get a better grade than a C. I have seen what you have to put up with, and you have handled it very well.

It's always good to see some one stand their ground, and not back down on their beliefs, even when faced with mean and hateful people that only want to hurt.

We should never be ashamed of who we are, and what we stand for if we have done our best. Keep standing S.L., keep standing.

Not a very 'deep' or complex post, but better than parroting Lester, with the amount of time you spend prowling the internet, when do you have time for your family or ministry?

When do you have time for pastoral studies or to meet with the needy members of your (?) congregation? When are finding time to spend with your boys? Where are your seasonal messages of inspiration, hope and charity?

You don't seem to find comfort or council in your wife, but you do display a loyalty to a woman who should not be the focus of your life. Perhaps the devil you need to pray about is ensconced elsewhere.

You are aware of the "strong man's snares" aren't you? You don't have to be moved a mile to miss the mark, only a fraction of an inch.

Christ is the point of Christmas, not the crone goddess.

Hey Raven
Thanks for your concern about my family, and Ministry. I don't like talking about private matters over the Internet, but for you I will answer your questions.

As for my wife, whom I have been married to for 27 years now, and still think she is the prettiest woman I have ever see. A woman that makes my life so complete, whom I tell everyday that I love her even though I don't have to say it, because I prove it to her.

We married when we were very young and against all odds we have managed to stay together, and in love with one another, Oh don't think for one moment that I would take her for granted. She has been much more than just a wife, she is my very best friend, and we share everything together.

As for my kids I give of myself to them wholeheartedly, I am there when they need me. We go fishing together, we hunt together, we sport shoot together, and I even take my daughter with us on most of our outing together. We also ride ATVs together, and go on picnics. I am teaching my oldest to drive also, my kids or my wife are not neglected.

I talk to my kids about life, and all the dangers out there. I also teach them moral, and how that relates to life, I teach them respect, and hopefully about how to be a good person.

As for my Ministry, Raven I don't like to talk about all I do, I don't want to sound like I am boasting, but you have ask me about it.

It's hard to find all the time I need to do everything I need to do. I study daily. I have service 3 times a week. But I am there when anyone of my members need me, or anyone that ask my help if I am able to help I will.

I take the elderly, and disabled to the grocery store, and to Doctor's appointments. If they are not able to shop I take their list and do it for them without charge. I go to the hospital, and visit, and pray with people whether they are my congregation or not.

I have helped my members with financial problems, out of my own pocket, as well as from the treasury at our church. I don't only give of my time, but of my income also.

I listen to my members problems, and offer what help I can, and then take their worries upon me also, and try to help them bear their burdens. Many nights I have laid awake at night praying, thinking about them.

I have stood with them through some of the most heart breaking times, sometimes I could offer encouragement with words, but other times just put my hands on their shoulders to let them know I was there even though I was silent.

I have rejoiced with them, and I have wept with them. I have rejoiced for them, and I have wept for them. I have held their hands as they were dying. I have set up with them in the hospital and at home when they terminally ill, and death was close.

I do this, even though some people tell me I am a hypocrite, and that I am not doing enough. I do this many times with thanks, or being noticed. I do it because I want to, and it is who I am. But you know Raven I would like to do so much more.

Raven I don't have much time do everything I want to do. I sleep about 4 to 5 hours a night on a good night. I am on the Internet very little just to check my emails, and when I find a post I am interested in I comment, that is a release for me. I also like to write about things that are important to me also.

Raven I had planned to post a Merry Christmas message tomorrow, I have neglected Christmas, and I am looking forward to spending the day with my family.

Thanks for you concern I hope I have answered your questions, but I feel embarrassed by doing it.

Your birth is a mistake you'll spend your whole life trying to correct.

The best way to waste your life, is by taking notes. The easiest way to avoid living is to just watch. Look for the details. Report. Don't participate.

You are not a beautiful, unique snowflake... This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time.

Hey Andy 2 Thanks for stopping by.
Yes Andy we are one more day closer to death than we were yesterday at this time. And still so much needs to be done.
