The soulmate concept

June 1st 2007 06:56
They say I will know. I will meet him and know he is for me. My epitome of perfection, Is this the fairy godmother talking or is there really that one person out there…waiting for me/ Waiting to stride up the beach on a white horse at sunset? To call me his lady… my knight in shining armour.

SNAP OUT OF IT...many would say.

But seriously, is the soulmate concept fact or fiction? And how do I really know what or who is perfect? Can I be sure that I’m sure? What is I am expecting someone so perfect that when Mr. Perfect does come along I let him go in fear of the fact that he isn’t perfect enough?

Is there more than one perfect person for me? If so, then I could presume the soulmate concept fraudulous, because they would be ‘soulmates’. This implies that I could settle for anyone or anything and he would somehow, in sometime, represent some part of my perfect man.

What is a soulmate? In the words of Jerry Maguire, “you complete me.” You share a connection: emotional, physical and mental. There is respect of one another and an appreciation of and fulfillment from one another. Your soulmate is foremost your friend and running partner for life.

I think each of us has a soulmate. Some of us take longer to find him. I am still waiting (not searching)…

It is good that you are waiting, and not searching. Just remember that what you want and what you need might not always look the same; it is easy to lose someone who is great by getting caught up in the little things that you know you can overlook...those things that you just choose not to overlook because you feel like there is someone better out there for you. Then down the road you see him and you are like, damn because he has become a success story - without you. BTW, Mr. Perfect does not exist, you should make sure that you don't miss Mr. He's Just What I Need No Matter What Anybody Else Says.

Soulmate is a matter of oppinion. People who believe in it are generally waiting for the right guy to turn up, or believe they have found him.
It's a double edged sword. If you find the right guy and it lasts, it works. If you stay with the guy you are with, it works. If you don't, it doesn't work.

Personally I believe that someday I will meet a chick that will love me as much as I love her, that is 'true' love. Soulmate, exists for some and not for others. How can we tell someone that believes in it that it doesn't exist? Likewise I wouldn't expect someone to convince me it does exist.

Ponder this...
