I read a post by Jim Stillman, about a very important issue, second hand smoke. He thinks that maybe the issue is politicalized by the extreme left, and right. I disagree I think it is politicalized by smokers, and non-smokers. Politics has nothing to do with this, I know republicans, and Democrats both that smoke. I am a ex-smoker myself, and know first hand that smoking is bad for all parties that have to breath any smoke first hand or second hand.
I think education, and common sense should be used when it come to smoking, and bans. I feel that a person has a right to smoke if they want to, and I believe that a person should not be forced to breathe second hand smoke if they don't want to. Smokers are addicted to cigarettes, just like coffee drinkers are addicted to caffeine. Should we ban coffee houses? (Just kidding)
It took my last child, when she was born with asthma to open my eyes to the affects of smoking on other people. I am not proud that I smoked around my first two sons, and if I had a do over I would never smoke around my kids or any one else for that fact. I was addicted to the nicotine in the cigarettes and was to proud to admitt it. I think smokers let pride stop them from getting help.
That's why I wrote this post, to offer my experience, and what I did to kick the habbit. I was smoking 2 packs or more a day. My wife was smoking more than I was, and my sister was smoking about pack a day. We all tried this, and it helped us stop smoking. We have been smoke free for three years now.
We started with one cigarette every hour, for one week. The second week we smoked one cigarette every hour and half. The third week we added another half hour between each cigarette. We continued to do that, until we got to one cigarette every four hours, and there we stopped smoking completely after that. I have tried to stop smoking many times before, and failed every time. This is the only thing that let me quit without all the suffering.
I am not a expert by any means, but this has helped three people that I know of, and I smoked for over thirty years, and my sister the same amount of time, and My wife about twenty four years. I think that the person must also have a little desire to quit as well.
Good Luck and may God Bless!
