Rape victim deserves punishment says Saudi Arabia

November 26th 2007 13:00
Chained Rock Pine Mountain State Park, Pineville Ky.

I am sure you have read or heard about the story of the 19 year old girl in Saudi Arabia who was sentenced to 6 months in jail, and 200 lashes. Saudis say she deserves the punishment, because she was having an affair with another man when she was ganged raped by 7 men.

Under Saudi Arabia's interpretation of Islamic Sharia law, women are not allowed in public in the company of men other than their male relatives. The first report made no mention of her being married, but now they say she was married, and having an affair with a high school friend.

Saudi Judges have a wide discretion in handing down sentences, and they are appointed by the King. The girls sentence was double by the court, because her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media. The court also banned the lawyer from defending her, confiscated his license to practice law and summoned him to a disciplinary hearing.

The girls sentence was 3 months in jail and 90 lashes, but that was before her lawyer tried to get justice for her. If you speak out Islamic justice is to double your punishment, this shows that women are consider property, and not equal to men in Islam.

The Saudi Justice Minister expressed his regret about all the negative media reports, and condemned foreign interference. United States had expressed astonishment, and the Canada called it barbaric.

Saudi Press Agency late on Saturday, confirmed that the flogging sentence against the rape victim would be carried. Thank God for the American Justice System as imperfect as it is. It's still better than the rest of the world's.

If this had happened in the United States there would have been uproar that would have been heard around the world, As well it should be. Have they never heard the word DIVORCE? This is Islamic Justice in Saudi Arabia.
