Destiny defined

June 28th 2007 00:58
My destiny is prewritten by a greater power. Does this mean that no matter how I steer the course of my life it was preconceived and I am plainly living out the plan of my creator?

Does this mean that God controls my decisions? Considering He already knew the decision I was going to make. Did he create me to make that decision?

Everything happens for a reason. So is there no possible way to stray from my destiny? Did God know I would make mistakes? Was that part of His plan?

Is my destiny God’s will? Could it be said that I am living God’s will for my life even if I am not following him and living according to his commandments? If not, does this mean that God has a plan for my life, but it is up to me as to whether or not I live it out? And therefore my destiny is different and that I am controlling it?

Do I have to find my destiny, or reach it? Is the journey of life all about reaching the final destination or does the concept of journey imply there no destination?

Destiny is a complex concept, in mind and in matter. Have you reached your destiny? Do you have one? Are you headed in the right direction? Do you control your destiny or does your destiny control you?

Predestination is like God building a car for you, and you for a car. The car is designed to get you from A-B. You are predestined to get from A-B. The way you drive the car will determine whether or not you get to B (or arrive at your destiny). God doesn't interfere with free will. He knows in advance if you're going to crash on the way, how many times, or whether you'll even make it, but you're the driver, and he's given you everything you need to get there, including a map.

This whole predestiny thing is a horrible thing to contemplate. I know it's not true...but imagine if it was...that we are nothing more than pawns in a trite game. And if like David says, that predestiny is "like God building a car for you" to get from point A to B, why does he provide some with jalopies, and some with limos? And does he pre-select the point B for children that die? Some god you have there..
