Butts gets taxed again.

November 12th 2007 13:00
The Democrat majority in Congress has set their sights on the Tobacco Industry, and have elected them to pay for the failed child health care bill that was vetoed by President Bush.

They propose to raise taxes on cigarettes 61 cents bringing the tax to $1 dollar per pack. They have also put a ban on cigarette sales in Senate Buildings alone with the huge federal tax increase. This tax does not include any State tax on Cigarettes either.

Tobacco is the most taxed item in America, at what point will it become to expense to smoke? What will happen? Will smokers become like the drug addicts, and steal to support their habits?

What happens if the Tobacco industry fails, where will the lost taxes come from? What will happen to the pet projects that was funded by them will they collapse?

I think they are depending to much on one Industry, that will crack under the pressure of taxes, every thing has it's breaking point.

I do not support the Tobacco industry, I am an ex-smoker, and have lost a family member to lung cancer. I feel if they think smoking is so bad, why leave it around to kill others, while Congress makes a monetary gain off of something that is killing people.

But that could very well be coming sooner than later as there is new legislation approved in Congress that would allow Federal regulations of cigarettes. A bill in the house is pending that would require the Food and Drug Administration to restrict tobacco advertising, and regulate warning labels and removing hazardous ingredients.

If the Tobacco industry fails, and goes out of business, were will the lost taxes come from. My friends they will come from you, and me. They will seek out another target, maybe the alcohol industry, or the soda industry, or the Candy industry, or maybe the fast food industry.

America look out, and get a tight grip on your wallets. The tax machine known as the Democratic Party is coming to a favorite vise near you.
