Boy Scouts not allowed to help Troops
November 23rd 2007 13:00
Cambridge Massachusetts Officials gave their permission for the Boy Scouts to place donation boxes for the Troops in 33 polling stations. After receiving just one complaint asked the Boy Scouts to remove the donation boxes because they said it was a political statement supporting the war.
The Boy Scouts was very disappointed, they say it was never about the war, but about the Troops. They were collecting care packages filled with toiletries, magazines, candy and other items, for the Troops. Boy Scout member Patrick O'Connor came up with the idea after one of his relatives was wounded in a IED attack in Iraq.
Cambridge Vice Mayor Timothy J. Toomey Jr. said that a breakdown in communication, rather than malice, led to the boxes being removed. But never the less malice or not the damage was done, and it devastated Boy Scout Troop 45 that was trying to do something good for our Troops.
Members of the 181st stationed in Iraq has learn of the news from Cambridge and they are not happy. The Boy Scout say they are going to continue with their drive to collect care packages for the Troops, but say they didn't know it would be so hard.
These young patriotic Americas are learning the hard way about how far left, the left has gone. I hope they remember this when they get old enough to vote. Has Cambridge gone so political correct that it would hurt our Troops because of one Complaint? What they should have done was insist on that person moving our of Cambridge, to say a place like Iran.
But young folks like these Boy Scouts should have our respect and support.
